This father’s day I wanted to get my husband something really special. He has sacrificied and achieved so much this year so I wanted to show him my thanks for being such a great husband and father. When searching ideas on the internet I found plenty of the typical gift ideas; razor, golf accessories, tools, electronics, nifty gadgets. However, none of these things work for my husband. He has a razor that he loves and won’t buy a new one until the current one dies. He has no interests in sports, especially golf. He has every tool under the sun already and if he doesn’t have it…there is a good reason why he doesn’t have it. And as far as electronics, he isn’t interested in computers, cameras, cool TVs or DVDs, I bought him a PS2 a couple years back and he loved it, we played it all the time, and then we had a kid. Try playing a video game with a 1 year old around…you just can’t. We are actually amazed that our PS2 still works because of how many times our son has ran away with the controller and pulled the unit with him. The gadgets are cool but often aren’t really worth the money. The only thing I could think of was fishing stuff. We moved to an area where my husband could really fish on a regular basis so I thought maybe giving him a day out fishing would be fun. However, I wanted to give more than just alone time. So I searched for fishing gift ideas and ended up coming across the coolest gift idea. A fishing themed gift basket!

I found the basket on unusualgiftbaskets.net. They have posts for gift basket ideas for everybody and many occassions. After reading through the website I realized that gift baskets make really great gifts for every and any occasion. I always see gift baskets in stores at Christmas and thought that they were always over priced and not very well made. However, the baskets on unusualgiftbaskets.net look very well made and are priced accurately. Unusualgiftbaskets.net also has tips on how to make your own gift basket at home if you need the help. Unusualgiftbaskets.net promotes two particular online gift basket stores All About Gifts and Baskets and Design It Yourself Gift Baskets. Both sites have a large variety of gift baskets that can suit any occasion and any person. They are full of great items and the presentation of the gift baskets looks wonderful!

After looking at these sites I got very excited about the products and will probably be buying a lot of gift baskets this year. I even found some baskets I would love to receive myself. I have ordered the fishing gift basket for my husband and am very excited about it. I think it will be a great surprise for him this Father’s Day. It is a wonderful Father’s Day gift idea and it wasn’t the only one that looked good! There were other themed baskets that would suit most men, the common themes were golf, sports, casino/gambling, grilling/BBQ, fishing, motorcycle, spciy food, beer/wine, spices/sauces, and movie themed.

Design It Yourself Gift Baskets has some great gift baskets as well. Their site is really cool because you can customize every basket and even create your own gift basket from scratch! For those that aren’t very creative or crafty this is great because you can choose everything from which basket to use to which gifts will go inside and then they put it together and ship it for you. It is as simple as 1, 2, 3. However, as far as the pre-made gift baskets All About Gifts and Baskets caught my attention more. So depending on what I want I will be visitng one or the other and truly buying gift baskets for every occasion.

Wireless Weather Stations

Now that I live in the country, I don’t get weather reports for my immediate area. I get the weather report for the closest big city which is about 30 minutes away. So the weather report is almost always wrong and not by just a little bit. They say the low will be 40 degrees. I wake up to 26 degrees. They said we would get about 2 inches of snow. I got almost 8 inches. These differences have really affected my day and my plans so I started searching for home weather stations.

Home weather stations allow a person to set up remotes around there home, based on what readings you want you may or may not have numerous remotes and you would need to read where the best placement is. The remotes then send the information to a central monitor that you have placed in your home, some can be attached to the wall and some can just be placed on a counter or desk. The monitor then tells you all the weather information right at your home. Depending on how extensive of a system you get you can know just the temperature or you can know the air quality, wind speed and direction, humidity, etc.

Some of these weather stations are wired which means you will have to wiring things through your house, however, the more popular models are wireless. Which is the best way to go in my opinion. Wireless home weather stations are pretty decent looking and are not that expensive. The price ranges based on what features you want from your weather station. But those things aside I am just excited to actually know what the weather is at my home and not 30 minutes from me. Since there are so many different kinds of weather stations it is best that you research the different features, brands, and prices before purchasing.

So while looking for a baby gift idea for my friend who is due in September I manage to stumble across something very interesting and completely unrelated. However, I got lost in what I dsicovered and figured I would share with the rest of you, especially if some of you are just as unaware as I can be at times. Anyway, within the world of fasion and accessories comes the idea that laptop bags should be fashionable, funky, stylish, anything but the same old black bag that so many of us are use to seeing. I have to admit that the laptop I used all through college was a very lame regular black shoulder laptop bag. I never really thought anything about it but after discovering all the differnet laptop bags that are out there I wish I had a cool laptop bag then. I haven’t used my laptop since I graduated college so I don’t really need the cool bag now. Anyway, the industry of laptop bags has expanded greatly. There are specialized laptop bags for students, travelers, women, men, ecofriendly, backpacks, messenger style, simple sleeves, and the list goes one. Each type of bag has features designed for the user in mind and one site in particular has these types of bags in a huge variety of styles, colors, prints, patterns, etc. There are just as many different laptop bags as there are women’s handbags and shoes! Some of the bags are a little too funky for my taste but there are so many different styles, shapes, and patterns that just about every individual is sure to find a bag that speaks to them.

Now I know that some might be thinking about whether or not these bags sacrifice function and durability for their clever unique intriguing styles but I have to tell you that these bags are just as sturdy and dependable as the boring black bags. The unique laptop bag just allows an individual to escape the monotone ideal of a professional business person, whom laptops were originally designed for. However, two things have changed.

Firstly, business professional are steering more and more away from the perfect clean cut and pressed man or woman, to a variety of unique individuals. You have successful business men and women out there that show up to work in what makes them comofortable and expresses who they are. There are those that wear jeans and a sport coat versus a business suit or those that have an odd hair style or hair cut versus the clean cut style. So it only makes sense that those kinds of business individuals that are striving to stand apart from the business stereo type should be able to do so with their laptop bags as well.

Secondly, laptops are no longer limited to the business professional, high school graduates often get one to take to college with them, many stay at home mothers are getting them so they can work at the computer anywhere they might be, travelers are able to carry a laptop whereever they want with the increase of wi-fi hotspots and internet cafes. So with so many unique individuals carrying around laptops I am sure the same old black bag got boring really fast.

So the industry answered back with such a variety of laptop bags anyone and everyone is sure to be pleased with what they can find.

Whenever my parents took me to a Chinese restaurant. I looked forward to the eggrolls, the fortune cookies, and the very tasty tea. I never knew what kind of tea it was but for me it was a treat when we got to go the Chinese restaurant. Later in life my mother-in-law happen to find a cute little teaset with some Chinese tea in China Town, CA. The tea that came with the set was called Wu Long tea. I opened it and found just loose tea leaves and had no idea how to make it since I was use to boring old lipton tea in a bag. It was not until my brother started drinking tea that I found out about loose leaf teas and tea balls and teapots designed for loose leaf tea. So I bought a tea ball and tried the tea. Surprise! It was the tea that I loved so much from the Chinese restaurants. I started drinking a cup almost everyday and when it came time to buy more I had no idea where to buy Wu Long tea, especially since there is not a China Town near my home. So I searched it online and found out so much interesting facts about my beloved Wu Long tea. I discovered that it is also known as Oolong tea or WuYi tea. The name it seems depends on the exact way the tea is prepared but that part I don’t follow as well since I don’t really know the different ways to prepare tea. I also found out that Wu Long tea’s ingredients are like medicine for the body. The most advertise affects of drinking Wu Long tea is weight loss or increased metabolism. Which may explain why I was able to loose my pregnancy weight so quickly after my son was born (I fit into my pre-pregnancy pants only 6 weeks after my son was born). It also helps increase energy and keeps the body and skin looking healthy. And it has less caffiene than Green tea which seems to be more popular as a healthy tea, however, more caffiene is not healthier. Apparently Wu Long tea has been used in China for years for medicinal use and only recently is taking the West by storm. You can find variations of it everywhere, including a variety of flavors, although the regular flavor of it tastes wonderful. The price range also seems to vary greatly. There are some forms of the tea that are suppose to be the best because it allows more of the tea leaves properties to enter into the tea so you get more benefits. Frankly, I think just plain regular Wu Long tea will do plenty still. Anyway, I found one particular site (listed below) that had a lot of good information about Wu Long tea and its many medicinal uses. That site has a link to a great Chinese Herbal Tea store in which I think the price is right. I also found a link to a really cool store for teapots and teasets. There is apparently an orignial Chinese teapot called a Yixing Teapot that is suppose to help enrich your tea and is designed for loose leaf tea. But putting those facts aside I thought the teasets looked really cool and I want a couple of the sets for myself. But I will have to choose one for now and get back to my drinking. Well my husband and I have always dreamed about going on a cross country motorcycle ride, or maybe just across a few states. Anyway, I am not one that likes to get lost when you don’t have a large tank of gas and I would rather like to enjoy the scenery of the country, go down side roads, and explore than worry about whether I have enough gas in my tank. It would have never occurred to me that I could use a GPS for that until my sister and I drove across the country when I moved and we used her GPS to plan out where to stop for lunch, dinner, gas, hotels, etc. We used it for everything and the trip was extremely easy! I couldn’t believe just how useful her GPS had been for our trip. However, her GPS was suction cupped to the windshield of my truck and there was no possibility of suction cupping a GPS to a motorcycle. I searched the internet for "gps for motorcycles" and was amazed at what I found. I had never even heard of GPS systems that were specifically designed for motorcycle use. The more I searched into GPS I found out that there are designated GPS systems for just about any outdoor activity. GPS I guess has become the new and improved compass and everyone has one in their pocket. Anyway, I found one particular site that I thought had a good deal of information about motorcycle GPS systems and even had information about mounts for car GPS systems. Which allows you to use a car GPS system on your motorcycle. I haven’t decided which I want to buy yet but since our dream motorcycle trip is not happening for a while I have plenty of time to look at more information and decide which to buy.

While my son is a true blessing the stretch marks I received during pregnancy are not. Now with summer just around the corner I am looking for a way to get rid of my stretch marks quickly. However, with my sisters guidance I have started paying attention to what kind of chemicals I put in or on my body and am trying to use only natural remedies to treat my body. The problem now lies in the fact that most skin care products have ingredients I can’t even attempt to pronounce. I found many sites that had natural home remedies from rubbing vitamin E on the stretch marks or other simple remedies to complex ones that including blending together ingredients like vitamin E, vitamin K, cocoa butter, aloe vera, and other natural ingredients. However, I have used the vitamin E rub on stretch marks I received from puberty but those stretch marks are still with. They are lighter but still there. As for the blender concoction I didn’t trust it. I don’t really want to mix a ton of things together and see my skin turn orange because of some reaction. So I had my work cut out for me but I did find a very nice site that offers a lot of information about natural removal options for stretch marks. The site mainly focuses on natural stretch mark creams but has a little information on laser surgery and microdermabrasion, both of which don’t go under the "natural" category for me. However, the site has lots of information about natural stretchmark creams including a list of common ingredients found in stretch marks and describes each ingredient in detail, offering which to stay away from and which are truely natural. I have purchased Revitol Stretch Mark Cream based on this site’s recommendations and reviews although it does have information about other stretch mark creams too. I will have to let you know how it goes although I am very optimistic.

Electronic Book Readers

So recently I have heard a lot about the new Amazon Kindle 2. I hadn’t heard about it before so I started doing some searches. Apparently the item I have been hearing so much about isn’t even on the market yet. It is available February 24th, although you can pre-order it. However, I found out that there are other products like it and I so I did some research. First off if you have never heard of the Amazon Kindle 2 it is Amazon’s latest verison of what is called an electronic book reader. Electronic book readers or ebook readers as they are also referred as are little electronic devices that you can download books, magazine, even newspapers into and then carry them with you whereever you go. There are many different kinds but they all can hold at least 200 titles roughly. That is insane. Imagine carrying around 200 books in a little device and the device is little. They all range around the size of a typical paperback book and are as light as 10 oz. I seriously wish I had one because the convenience of being able to carry numerous books around with me that take little to no space just sounds great. Supposedly these things are suppose to be the next IPod and with how intrigue I was I think it is possible. Although I am a little skeptical about how many people read vs listen to music. I love to read and would certainly gain advantage from the product but I have the feeling that people who are not interested in reading won’t even give the product a second glance. Which may in part be from the prices. They are all very expensive, the Kindle 2 is $359 and it’s competitor is $400. Ouch. So even though I am stoked about this new product and would love to have one of my own I don’t yet have $359 to spare. With my research though I found a really good sight that reviews the top two ebook readers I found. It actually lists three but two are the Kindle and Kindle 2 which I have found are much them same just a little better. It would be like comparing the IPod and IPod Nano. Anyway, check it out. After reading all the information though I am more apt to buy the new Amazon Kindle 2.
